Once a largely Swedish enclave, Andersonville has maintained some of its Swedish roots (Ann Sather, Swedish American Museum Center), while becoming an extremely diverse and vibrant community on Chicago's north side.

The heart of this neighborhood is along Clark Street, north and south of Foster. The commercial district here is unique and maintains its character by having the majority of its businesses locally owned and operated. By day, you'll want to check out the boutiques, resale shops, museums, coffee shops and spas. By night, check out the ethnic restaurants, taverns, and see thirty very brief plays in an hour at the Neo-Futurarium!


Boundaries

The Andersonville neighborhood is roughly bounded by Winnemac (5033 N) to the south, Elmdale (6000 N) to the north, Ravenswood (1800 W) to the west, and Magnolia (1250 W) to the east.
